Preceptor matching.

Match students with qualified preceptors step by step — requirements from your policy, credential verification, the match itself, orientation, and the program's evaluation of preceptors (CCNE II-G). Your progress is saved on your device.

Step 1Define the requirements

What "qualified" means is set by your program's preceptor policy — degree, licensure, experience. CCNE II-G requires preceptors to be academically and experientially qualified, with roles and performance expectations defined and communicated in writing.

Step 2Inventory preceptors

Build the candidate list with credentials and availability before matching anyone to anyone.

Step 3Verify and match

Credentials verified, then the match: specialty alignment, site fit, and no preceptor stretched past what your policy allows.

Step 4Orient preceptors

The highest-leverage step in the whole workflow: preceptors who never saw the course objectives evaluate students against their own unit's norms. Fix it with a one-page orientation — and record that it happened.

Step 5Set the evaluation loop

CCNE II-G requires the program to evaluate preceptor performance — schedule it now, not at the end of term. And remember: preceptors give input; faculty own the grade (III-K).
